Deacon Harold (Harry) Brodeur was called home to his Lord on September 28, 2011.  Harry was ordained a Deacon in the Diocese of Arlington Virginia in May 1988.  He moved to Jacksonville in September 1991 and settled into the faith community of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Atlantic Beach. He served there until his retirement.  He became very active in the Engaged Encounter marriage preparation ministry and Cursillo.  In the Engaged Encounter Ministry, he and Norma became leaders of the community and brought a refreshing spirituality to the ministry.  His involvement in Cursillo predated his becoming a Deacon.  He made his Cursillo weekend in Arlington Virginia and remained active until his passing.  He served on the Secretariat formany years and brought his gifts of wisdom, service, peace and calm to the movement.

Harry was married to his wife, Norma, for 59 years.  Together they have four children, two male and two female, and six grandchildren.  Harry had a passion for service to others and a zest and zeal for living life to the fullest.  He was an eagle scout and loved sailing and classical music.

Harold's memorial service will take place on Fri. Oct 21 at 10:00 am at St John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2400 Mayport Rd, Atlantic Beach.  Bishop John Snyder will be officiating.

The many people he has touched over the years will miss Deacon Harry.
